When Dodger Stadium was opened in 1962, it was considered one of the most beautiful venues in all of sports. "The sunsets over the San Gabriel mountains behind left field are part of the magic," said Vin Scully, the Dodgers Hall of Fame Announcer.
But it took a little Hollywood magic before the first game could be played, Scully told me in this interview for SportsNet LA, done nearly nine years ago.
Vin Scully died in 2022. More than a broadcaster, Scully was an artist whose storytelling brilliance could be likened to Americana giants Will Rogers and Mark Twain.
