Langers Deli History
Langers, the most famous kosher style deli in Los Angeles is on the verge of closing after seventy seven years of serving what was once called “the best sandwich in America.”
Owner Norm Langer says that crime, encampments and drug deals have transformed the neighborhood into an unpleasant place for customers and employees.
Over the years, Norm has been through many of these same challenges to keep his place open at 7th and Alvarado Streets across from MacArthur Park. He talked about surviving his last crisis 7 years ago in this story I did for PBS SoCal.
